Ava’s Awesome Antics #25

On the drive to school this morning we were looking at the sunrise that was laced with clouds and Ava exclaimed, “It’s like a whirlpool in the sky!”

Love seeing through the eyes of a child.

The other night, Emi came in to the kitchen and asked, “Dad, can you dance?”

“I think I can hold my own.”, I quipped back.

Without missing a beat and in all seriousness, she responded, “Have you ever asked anyone that was around you?”

Now that is something I would say!

Usually I post something funny or witty that Ava says or does on Ava’s Awesome Antics.  Today though, I have to post something absolutely sweet that Ava did.

I opened up my email today to find a picture she made for me with one of her and one of her mother’s necklaces.  She never told me about it and only sent it to my email.  I’m not even going to pretend that I didn’t have a moment when I opened it.

The picture speaks for itself.

Last week, while discussing sleeping arrangements for the night, Ava (6) said:

“Can I come sleep with you tomorrow night?  Aunt Jeanna will be here and she will snore really loud….like a trumpet….or an elephant.”

That right there folks is just plain awesome.

Twice this last week, Emi (11) visited friends homes to which the parents made it a point to talk about how polite and well-mannered she was.

On the ride home from the second, I asked her about it and she said the following:

“I am always better when I go to friend’s and family’s homes.  Well, mainly friend’s homes.  Regardless of what you do, family has to accept you back.  With friends, there is no guarantee.”

Words to live by.

This evening while hanging pictures on the wall…

April:  Is it straight?

Jason:  Eh, it’s close enough.

April:  What did the level show?

Jason:  [in a kinda sure tone] It’s good.

April:  Good as in, ‘the play on the field stands’, not ‘the play on the field is confirmed’?

Jason:  [laughing] Yes.

I love it that my wife uses football terms to clarify daily life.  🙂

While I was folding the laundry, Emi (11) walks in and says, “So, how does it feel to be the woman of the house?”
